57 Reasons To Live in West Michigan
Reason #18: Festivals
Festivals
Every year, over the first full weekend in June, over half a million people gather for the annual Festival of the Arts – known simply as “Festival.” This 3-day free showcase of visual and performing arts is the largest all-volunteer arts event in the nation. 6 performance venues, juried art shows and ethnic food booths are set up on closed streets in the heart of downtown. If your feet get tired from all that finger-snapping and toe-tapping, you can always take a break for souvlaki or satay.
Festival is the big one, but we’ve also got ethnic festivals, neighborhood festivals, tulip festivals, kite festivals – even a popular, nationally recognized Coast Guard festival on the waterfront in Grand Haven. You could probably hit a festival (or two) every weekend all summer long.
